krvam - Department of Regional Sciences and Management
The Department of Regional Sciences and Management (KRVaM) is known for its developed academic program in public administration, basic and applied research as well as its strong cooperation with local, regional and national public institutions.
Both the Bachelor degree in Public Administration Economics and Management and Masters in Public Administration Economics and Management are designed to give students the necessary skills and knowledge needed to start successful careers in the public sector.
The lecturers at the department teach courses in regional economics, public administration, management and marketing, entrepreneurship, financial analysis, project writing and project management, innovation policy and sustainable development.
Teaching is offered in both Slovak and English.
The department is a strong research partner in the field of regional and local development. It has successfully completed numerous national and international scientific research projects supported by the Slovak Ministry of Education, Slovak Research and Development Agency, Horizon 2020 and Erasmus+.
The research and professional activities are mainly focused on regional development and policy, cultural economics and creative industries, urban transport, urban sustainability, social and human capital, poverty, innovations and clusters, educational projects and innovative teaching.
The department is committed to the region and city and collaborate intensively with them.
In 2013 it was responsible for evaluating the European Capital of Culture Košice 2013 and we are currently involved in designing strategic plans and preparing of sector analysis for the city and region.
